This spring it was decided that our whelping pen needed a renovation. Up until now it has worked as a whelping shed and garden storage shed in one, but as we add more quality dogs to our breeding program we need to plan ahead to be able to accomodate more than one litter at a time. So the deconstruction and reconstruction began! I loved this project every step of the way, mainly because my kids were actively involved with me in all of it. They learned new skills, and the value of hard days work. 

We now have two whelping pens, each equipped with their own extra large out door runs. Both pens have a whelping box, food/water area and a 'mommy getaway bed' so our moms can have spot to themselves where the pups cant pester them as they get older.
